The death toll attributed to COVID-19 in Iron County continued its recent climb Monday, with local health officials reporting three more fatal cases.
As has been its practice to protect privacy, the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department provided no further details on the deaths, which now have reached nine new fatalities in Iron County since mid-January. But the state’s COVID-19 data site indicates that from Jan. 1 to Jan. 26, the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls had five new deaths among its residents, with 25 deaths overall and 102 cases.
The Iron County Medical Care Facility’s website listed that the current outbreak began Dec. 28, with 46 residents testing positive since then, along with 12 employees. The nursing home had a significant outbreak of the virus in September and October as well.
