Lincoln Trail College has named the three finalists for its next President. Dr. Kathleen Curphy, Dr. Zahi Atallah, and Mrs.Tona Ambrose will visit the college’s campus this week.
Curphy currently serves as Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Learning/Chief Academic Officer at Shawnee Community College. She also served as their Interim President from 2019-2020. Prior to that, she was the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs/Chief Academic Officer at Delgado Community College, the Vice President for Instruction/Chief Academic Officer at Metropolitan Community College, the Vice President for Instruction/Chief Academic Officer at Lake Washington Institute of Technology, and the Provost/Chief Academic Officer at Minnesota State Community and Technical College. Last October, Governor JB Pritzker announced his intention to construct two community college-based manufacturing training academies in southern Illinois. “We’re investing directly in communities and in companies with programs that will allow businesses to grow, retain and attract new talent for higher-paying jobs of the future,” Pritzker said. “Through this program, we will bring investments where they are most needed, specifically for downstate communities, where these cutting-edge training opportunities have not been as widely available.” The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity says that 15 million dollars will be available to fund two centers.

(OLNEY) The holiday break will end next week for the four Illinois Eastern Community Colleges. The Student Services Offices at Olney Central College in Olney, Wabash Valley College in Mt. Carmel, Lincoln Trail College near Robinson, and Frontier Community College in Fairfield will reopen Tuesday, January 5. The 2021 Spring Semester Classes in the IECC will begin the following week on Monday, January 11. And by the way, registration continues next week for the spring semester classes.
