Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul said Tuesday his staff will work with federal authorities to investigate a breach in his office’s network that officials discovered over the weekend.
The state’s top law enforcement officer first learned that the computer network was breached early Saturday, Raoul said in a statement. It was not immediately known the extent to which the office’s network was compromised.
“Since then, information technology staff and investigators from the Attorney General’s office have been working closely with federal law enforcement authorities to evaluate the extent to which the network was compromised,” the statement continued.

Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul on Tuesday said his office’s computer network was compromised in a hack.
Investigators in Raoul’s office and federal investigators have been working on the case since the hack was discovered Saturday morning, Raoul’s office said in a statement. This investigation is ongoing, and I am committed to resolving this situation as soon as possible to ensure that the Attorney General’s office can continue to provide critical services to the people of Illinois, Raoul said in the statement.

Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul’s office announced today that their computer network has been compromised.
Raoul said in a statement released today that the breach was discovered in the early morning hours on Saturday and that information technology staff and investigators from his own office have been working with federal law enforcement to evaluate the extent of the breach.
Raoul said in the release that the investigation remains ongoing as they work to resolve the situation and continue the services of their office. Attorney General’s office spokesperson Annie Thompson said in the email that more information will be provided once it becomes available.
