Changes are on the way at a dangerous Young County intersection. The Texas Department of Transportation will be changing the intersection at Hwy. 114 and Hwy. 16 into a four-way stop in the coming months. The Young County Commissioners Court on Monday signed a resolution supporting the move and pressed for more action. The existing condition of the stop includes a two-way stop, with traffic on Hwy. 16 stopping at the intersection. There is a flashing yellow light for warning traffic on Hwy. 114. The resolution, which passed with a 4-0 vote, included support for an overpass or grade separation at the intersection. The resolution references a Nov. 2020 traffic study that concluded the intersection meets the Multi-Way Stop Warrant Criteria for Crash Experience. In the time from Nov. 5, 2019 through Nov. 5, 2020, there were five crashes at the intersection. Since 2010, there have been 22 crashes.
