Fynle Price-Jones, aged nine, has been given a Star Award by Cancer Research UK

A RUTHIN schoolboy diagnosed with a rare and aggressive brain tumour the size of a tennis ball has been recognised with a special award from Cancer Research UK for Children & Young People. Fynle Price Jones, aged nine, was diagnosed with a brain tumour on May 24, 2019, but, thanks to his lifesaving treatment, is now cancer free. He has also returned to school and is looking forward to spending Christmas at home with his family. Now, for the courage he showed during treatment as he learnt to speak, eat, swallow and walk again after major surgery, Fynle has received a Cancer Research UK for Children and Young People Star Award, in partnership with TK Maxx.

Billy is home for Christmas after cancer treatment

Billy Marin A BRAVE toddler who has returned home in time for Christmas after receiving cancer treatment in German has also been given a special award for his bravery. Three-year-old Billy Marin and his family received the devastating news in September that his cancer had returned, just six months after he was given the all clear. Billy, from Billingham, was just 13 months old when he was diagnosed with ependymoma, a rare type of brain tumour, in November 2018. He underwent a 10-hour operation to remove the tumour and 13 months of intensive chemotherapy, which at one point left him so poorly with a type of sepsis that doctors feared he wasn’t going to make it.

Brave three-year-old Samuel honoured for his courage in facing cancer

A TODDLER who spent last Christmas in hospital for cancer treatment has been honoured for his courage. Samuel Oswin was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in December 2019 after a rash appeared on his body. The three-year-old s mum Amy opened up about her son’s cancer after he received a Cancer Research UK for Children & Young People Star Award in partnership with TK Maxx for the bravery he has shown throughout his treatment. Amy, from Upper Stratton said: “The last 12 months have been so tough and when I look back at the treatment Samuel received, I can’t quite believe what he has been through. His resilience and determination are so inspiring.

Irvine lad Ace wins Star Award for facing cancer like superhero

A BRAVE Irvine boy, who warms hearts in his superhero costumes, has been recognised for his courage in the face of cancer. Ace Ward was diagnosed with leukaemia just weeks before the COVID-19 pandemic hit. He had to learn to walk and even swallow again after the disease left him fighting for his life in an intensive care ward for four weeks. Now the six-year old has received a Cancer Research UK (CRUK) for Children and Young People Star Award, in partnership TK Maxx, in recognition of his remarkable courage during months of treatment, 20 surgeries and more than 20 blood transfusions.
