Historic Plymouth pub is propped up to stop it falling down

It may not really be the weather for it today, but we are again able to visit a pub to have a drink outdoors after the latest easing of lockdown restrictions. Our favourite watering holes have been forced to shut their doors for prolonged periods of time over the course of the last year due to the coronavirus pandemic. The prospect of being able to go out and enjoy a drink and a socially distanced conversation may be another step towards getting back to a semblance of normality, but it also serves as another reminder of the pubs that are no longer with us.
We have rediscovered images of previous watering holes in Pitsea, Rochford, Shoebury and Wickford. The national lockdown has resulted in pubs having to close their doors once again, leaving some at risk of going bust. The Lost Pubs Project - which can be found at closedpubs.co.uk and has supplied these photographs - remembers pubs which some may have forgotten and it is fascinating to think of them being thriving boozers in their heyday.
