Slideshow ( 2 images ) The Palestinian nationalist movement’s highest decision-making body, the Central Committee, said it had given Nasser Al-Qudwa two days to drop his breakaway challenge, but that he had failed to comply. Fatah’s internal divisions were a key factor in the party’s loss to its Islamist rival Hamas in the last parliamentary election in 2006. Fatah had been widely expected to win that vote even though Arafat, its figurehead and co-founder, had died just over a year earlier. But its vote was split by official and unofficial candidates running against each other.
