Says prime minister can appoint a special assistant, adviser as per constitution and rules
ISLAMABAD:
The apex court has rejected an appeal filed against the appointment of special assistants to the prime minister (SAPMs) with dual nationality and has upheld an earlier decision of the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Ijazul Ahsan on Friday took up the appeal after the third member of the bench Justice Munib Akhtar recused himself from hearing the case.
At the outset of the hearing, Justice Ahsan referred to the apex court s decision on a petition filed against SAPM for Overseas Pakistanis Syed Zulfiqar Bukhari for holding dual nationality said the court had already ruled that a dual national is permitted to work as an special assistant.

Ministry of Climate Change informs Islamabad High Court Suzie and Babloo of its decision following earlier denial of relocation
The Islamabad High Court on Monday disposed of a contempt of court petition against the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board after the Ministry of Climate Change informed it that two Himalayan bears at the Islamabad Zoo would be relocated to a sanctuary in Jordan on Dec. 16 (Wednesday) due to a lack of facilities to care for them in Pakistan.
In a six-page order penned by Chief Justice Athar Minallah, the court noted that the Wildlife Board had decided to relocate Suzie and Babloo long-suffering residents of the Islamabad Zoo to an appropriate sanctuary until a facility that could meet their behavioral, physiological and social needs could be established in Pakistan. The pair of Himalayan brown bears at Islamabad zoo will be shifted to Jordan and not moved to the Ayubia National Park.
The decision was announced by the Islamabad High Court on Monday.
Babloo and Suzie will be shifted to Jordan, the lawyer of the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board told the court. “They won’t be kept in Pakistan till the country gets a decent sanctuary.”
