Country back to normalcy after blackout Power supply restored in most part of Pakistan KARACHI: The National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) on Sunday night claimed that it has “fully restored” its transmission system whose fault on Saturday night threw the entire country into darkness. The NTDC grid stations of 220kV and 500 kV and transmission system have been fully restored across the country, the NTDC spokesman said in a press statement. “Power has been restored in Peshawar, Islamabad, Jhelum, Gujarat, Sargodha, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Okara, Sahiwal, Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, Dharki, Guddu, Rohri, Shikarpur, Dera Murad Jamali, Sibi and Quetta Industrial areas.

Iesco announces eight-hour loadshedding schedule for load management

National January 11, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) has issued eight-hour loadshedding schedule in all areas of Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Jhelum, Chakwal, Azad Kashmir, Murree, Attock, Pindigheb, Kotli Sattiyan and several other circles. The Iesco has issued this notification Sunday due to the prolonged power blackout which was caused by a sudden drop of frequency in the high transmission line (HTL) to 0 from 50 plunging the entire country in darkness Saturday night. The load management schedule will continue for an indefinite period, Iesco warned. The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) CEO Abdul Razzaq told The News that in the light of present circumstances we have started loadshedding in all areas due to shortage of electricity. Previously, the age limit for appointing the CEO of a power distribution company was 62 years. The cabinet had taken up the issue of advertisements for the position of CEOs in its meeting. The Power Division informed the meeting that there were 10 distribution companies under its administrative control, which were public sector firms. It stated that these companies were being headed by general managers/ chief engineers on a look-after charge basis as a stopgap arrangement on a temporary basis.
