Don’t be taken in by the Pakistan government’s lip-service to becoming a multi-religious society every time it promises the repair or reconstruction of a destroyed Hindu temple in that country. It just cannot mean what it says in this context.
That is the way to read the recent drama in Pakistan over what was announced as the first Hindu temple in the capital city, Islamabad. The reality, instead, played out somewhere else in the country, just before the dawn of the new year, 2021, in the wanton destruction of a temple in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa said Pakistan is a peace loving country that had rendered great sacrifices for regional and global peace. He also emphasised that Pakistan and India should resolve the Jammu and Kashmir issue in a dignified manner.
Gen Bajwa said this while congratulating the graduating cadets at PAF Academy on Tuesday, the Geo TV reported. The graduation ceremony of 144th GD (P), 90th Engineering Course and 100th AD courses was held at Pakistan Air Force (PAF) academy Asghar Khan and Bajwa was the chief guest on the occasion, said the Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a press release.
Saudi Arabia to control entry of people from 20 countries

Muscat: A temporary suspension for entry into Saudi Arabia has been put in place for foreigners, diplomats, health practitioners and their families from 20 countries. The ban starts at 9 PM on Wednesday, the Interior Ministry of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced.

RAWALPINDI: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa Tuesday said Pakistan stood firmly committed to the ideal of mutual respect and peaceful co-existence but anybody or any entity will not be allowed to misinterpret its desire for peace as a sign of weakness.
He was addressing the graduation ceremony of 144th GD (P), 90th Engineering Course and 100th AD courses held at the PAF Academy Asghar Khan, Risalpur.
Chief of Air Staff Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan was also present.
General Bajwa said Pakistan was a peace-loving country that rendered great sacrifices for regional and global peace.
The temporary ban, effective from Feb 3, also includes people arriving from the United Arab Emirates, Germany, the United States, Britain, South Africa, France, Egypt, Lebanon and India. – APP/File Photo
Saudi Arabia on Tuesday suspended entry to the kingdom from 20 countries, including Pakistan, with the exception of diplomats, Saudi citizens, medical practitioners and their families, to help curb the spread of the coronavirus, the state news agency reported.
The interior ministry announced the “temporary suspension” would be effective from 9:00 pm (1800 GMT) on Wednesday, according to the official
Saudi Press Agency.
The ban applies to neighbouring Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, and in the wider region, to Lebanon and Turkey.
