Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the people on the auspicious occasion of Eid. The Prime Minister prayed for the good health and well-being of all as the nation celebrated the holy festival Eid (Eid-ul-Fitr).
The Prime Minister also hoped that the collective efforts would help overcome the pandemic and work for furthering human welfare .

Ramadan is one of the most important festivals for Muslims. They celebrate it with much joy and happiness. The festival also marks the end of holy month of fasting. The ninth month in the Islamic Lunar Calendar is Ramadan and the tenth month is Shawwal. The first day in the month of Shawwal is celebrated as Eid-ul-Fitr across the world.
This year, the calendar lists Eid ul-Fitr on 12th May. The crescent moon for the month of Shawwal 1442 was not sighted on Tuesday evening. Muslims in Saudi will look for moon tonight. Umm al-Qura calendar that is determined at the Institute of Astronomical & Geophysical Research of the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) in Riyadh is followed by the country Saudi Arabia.
Views: Visits 5 Inevitably, the feeling is mixed today for millions of Muslims in Nigeria as they join their counterparts the world over to celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Fitri, marking the end of a month-long fasting mandatory of all faithful. On the one hand, the fasting, along with its special blessings has finally come to an end. The Ramadan, the ninth month in the Islamic Lunar Calendar is significant as the time when the Holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Mohammed (may Allah’s peace and blessing be upon him).
