A South Korean delegation on Thursday departed for Tehran to negotiate an early release of an oil tanker and its crew members seized by Iranian authorities, according to local media.
The delegation led by Koh Kyung-sok, director-general of the Foreign Ministry s Africa and Middle Eastern affairs, left early morning along with other officials, Yonhap News Agency reported.

A government delegation left for Iran on Thursday to negotiate an early release of the South Korean oil tanker and its crew seized by Iranian authorities earlier this week.
The delegation, led by Koh Kyung-sok, director-general of the foreign ministry s Africa and Middle Eastern affairs, boarded a plane early Thursday and is set to arrive in Iran via Qatar, foreign ministry officials said.

Lebanese opponents of the Islamist terror group Hezbollah and its sponsor Iran flocked to social media channels on Wednesday to protest the erection of a bronze bust in the capital Beirut of Gen. Qassem Soleimani, the Iranian military commander killed in a US airstrike near Baghdad Airport in Iraq in Jan. 2020.
The statue of Soleimani was erected Tuesday by the Ghobeiry municipality in a Hezbollah stronghold near Beirut’s airport. In his capacity as commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), Soleimani was a key architect of Hezbollah’s terrorist campaign against Israel.

A year after the downing of a Ukrainian passenger jet by Iran s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), the families of the victims are still looking for answers to the tragedy and seeking justice.
Among them is Toronto-based Nima Neyestani, who lost his 32-year-old fiancé,
Jamshidi, a Canadian resident, was visiting her father in the Iranian capital and was on her way back to Toronto, where the couple had been living for almost three years. Everything is under control, Jamshidi wrote in her last text message on January 8, 2020, before the plane departed Tehran s Imam Khomeini International Airport.

Seoul, Jan 6 : A South Korean delegation is set to depart for Iran soon to negotiate the early release of a seized tanker and its crew, officials said on Wednesday.
The delegation, led by Koh Kyung-sok, director-general of the South Korean Foreign Ministry s Africa and Middle Eastern affairs, will board a plane around Thursday midnight bound for Tehran via Qatar, Seoul s Foreign Ministry said, Yonhap news agency reported.
Iranian officials were initially negative toward the visit, saying they saw no need for it, but they accepted it later after consultations with Seoul.
