Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has said it accidentally shot down the Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) plane in Iranian airspace on January 8 killing all 176 of its passengers and crew after mistaking it for a missile at a time when tensions with the U.S. were high.
