LIMASAWA, Southern Leyte, April 15 (PIA) This historical island is poised to add another first aside from being the venue of the first Easter Sunday celebration of the Eucharist, March 31, 500 years ago in the Philippines and in Asia.
On March 29, 1521, or two days before the iconic scene of the Easter Sunday Mass, the “Kasi-Kasi” was conducted between the traveler Magellan and Rajah Kolambu, king of Limasawa, and kasi-kasi meant blood compact signifying brotherhood, according to Usec. Anthony Gerard Gonzales of the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV).
“Historical accounts are silent on procedure of the custom, but the remarkable feature is that the two leaders both drank wine in mixture of blood drawn from either their arm or chest,” Gonzales said during the unveiling of the Limasawa quincentennial marker in the afternoon of March 31 at the municipal grounds in barangay Cabulihan.

Paris archbishop opens canonical proceedings against parish over maskless Masses 04/10/2021 at 1:48 PM Posted by Kevin Edward White

The archbishop of Paris announced canonical proceedings Wednesday against a parish priest for reportedly refusing to follow coronavirus health measures at the Easter Vigil.
A statement from the Archdiocese of Paris on April 7 said that the pastor of Sainte-Eugène-Sainte-Cécile church in Paris’ ninth arrondissement did not enforce “the health measures in force to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic during a celebration on Saturday, April 3.”
“These measures were, however, the subject of clear instructions that the diocese of Paris regularly reminded all parishes of,” it said.
