CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - An Akron cyclist traded up Wednesday by carjacking a vehicle at gunpoint and leaving his bike behind.
The carjacking occurred shortly after 4 p.m. in the 300 block of Hoover Street, according to an Akron police media release.
A 63-year-old man told police that a man on a bike approached him, pulled out a handgun, and demanded his car keys.
The medical examiner said officers were sent to the 1000 block of Brown Street where they found the victim with a gunshot wound to the torso shortly after 4 a.m. on Friday.

AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - Akron police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating a man accused of aggravated robbery at Dollar General.
Police said the man approached the cashier, pulled out a handgun and demanded money from the register.
The man fled following the incident, according to a release.
The crime occurred just before 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Akron Dollar General, located at 1500 S. Main St.

AKRON, Ohio – Police in Akron are sorting out details of a deadly home invasion Saturday in the North Hill neighborhood in which one man was fatally shot and another was hospitalized.
Officers responded around 11:30 p.m. Saturday for calls about shooting at a home on the 800 block of Wall Street, just west of North Howard Street, according to a police report.
Police determined that a 31-year-old man who died at the scene was shot during a home invasion but are still investigating the exact circumstances and how others were involved.
