The Akron Police Department is investigating today after a fatal accident in which a vehicle struck several objects, crashed into a garage, and later caught fire killing the driver of the vehicle.
According to police, the incident happened around 2:20 a.m. Saturday when a Chevrolet Corvette was traveling westbound on Russell Avenue. Officials believe the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a utility pole before continuing westbound, where the car also struck a stop sign and eventually ran into the garage of a home on Manning Avenue.

AKRON, Ohio A man sitting on a bench in a downtown park was killed when another man walked up from behind and shot the victim, police say.
Randall Lee Proctor, 58, of Akron, was found on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head by police officers in Grace Park just before 5 p.m. Saturday, according to the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office. Proctor was pronounced dead at Summa Health Akron City Hospital.
Police detectives say the victim was sitting on a park bench when an unknown suspect approached him from behind and shot him.

Akron Police detectives are investigating after a 58-year-old man was found dead in Grace Park on Saturday afternoon.
Police say they were called out to the 200 block of Park St. for a shooting on Saturday, just before 4 p.m. When they arrived on the scene, they found the victim on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound. The man was taken to Summa Health Akron City Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested a 23-year-old man in connection to a deadly shooting of a victim that was working as a ride-share driver at the time.
Investigators said 23-year-old Kahlyl Powe shot and killed a 48-year-old man, lated identified as Kristopher Roukey, on Sunday just before 5 p.m. near the intersection of East Market Street and Buchtel Avenue.
The first officers on the scene found the Roukey inside a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Detectives said he was a driver for a ride-sharing company at the time of the shooting.
