DENVER â More people were caught in large avalanches in Colorado Friday â near Jones Pass and Loveland Pass â in what continues to be a dangerous season for people in the backcountry.
The two avalanches occurred Friday near Loveland Pass and near Jones Pass. The Colorado Avalanche Information Center said the one on Jones Pass was âvery largeâ and triggered by a snowmobile and the avalanche near Loveland Pass was human-triggered as well.

The avalanche danger was rated considerable near and above treeline in the Summit and Vail zones on Friday, Dec. 25, according to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center. Danger was expected to decrease to moderate on.
The Summit County Rescue Group rescued three people Sunday night after they were caught in hazardous weather conditions that could have resulted in an avalanche, the group said Monday.
