A man died in an avalanche Friday morning in Dutch Draw, according to Summit County Sheriff’s Lt. Andrew Wright, the fourth life lost in the last 15 years in the easily accessible but avalanche-prone backcountry skiing spot just outside the boundary of Park City Mountain Resort.

The Summit County Rescue Group has launched a fundraising campaign asking community members for help in supporting training for members, equipment upgrades and other expenses vital to maintaining the team’s operations.
The rescue group was founded in December 1972 and has remained an all-volunteer team ever since. The campaign represents the first fundraiser in the group’s 48-year existence.
“We’ve never really done formal fundraising efforts before,” said Charles Pitman, a spokesperson with the rescue group. “We have so many missions we’re involved with every year, and a lot of the people that we pull out of the backcountry, and their families and friends, donate money to our team. We’re hoping this is the start of a long-term goal for us to have more of a formal effort to raise money, instead of just relying on the goodness of the people we’re helping.”

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A construction worker was struck by a vehicle Wednesday while directing traffic in Coventry Township, according to a press release from the Summit County Sheriffâs Office.
The 52-year-old construction worker from Euclid was standing in the westbound lane directing eastbound traffic past a construction vehicle near the 1000 block of Robinson Avenue.
A 62-year-old woman driving heading westbound didnât see the construction worker and struck him, according to the release.

CLEVELAND, Ohio A construction worker was suffered life-threatening injuries Wednesday when he was struck by a car while directing traffic in Coventry Township, according to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.
According to deputies, the 52-year-old construction worker, who was identified only as a Euclid resident, was taken to Akron General Medical Center.
The crash happened around 6:45 a.m. near the 1000 block of Robinson Avenue. In a news release, the sheriff’s department said the construction worker was hit while standing in the westbound lane directing eastbound traffic.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A Summit County man is in custody after the Los Angeles Police Department contacted authorities in Northeast Ohio in regards to an alleged rape of a child under the age of 13.
Antonio Diaz faces numerous charges out of the state of California, including four counts of lewd acts upon a child, four counts of oral copulation, sexual penetration, sodomy of a person under the age of 16, and possession of child pornography.
