Special efforts afoot to deliver SCBA housing scheme at Park Road Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: A land supervisory committee, set up under a serving apex court judge, is overseeing the progress of the development of a housing scheme for the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) at Park Road Islamabad by the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA).
According to the minutes of the 13th executive board meeting of the FGEHA, as per the line of action proposed by the Committee, the SCBA would ensure that all cases regarding the land pending in various courts would be withdrawn by the landowners. The SCBA would also facilitate FGEHA in talks for the further processing of land with the remaining owners belonging to the Authority.

Govt terms majority order in review case of Justice Isa unconstitutional

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has termed the order of the majority of the review petitions in Justice Qazi Faiz Isa case as unconstitutional, stating that the verdict has converted the entire process from being one in aid of justice to a process of injustice
President Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan, Law Minister Farogh Naseem, Adviser to Prime Minister on Accountability Mirza Shahzad Akbar and others had filed chamber appeals in the Supreme Court against the objections raised by its registrar office on the curative petitions, seeking review on Justice Qazi Faez Isa case.
LHCBA questions elevation of junior judge to SC

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) has also questioned the proposed elevation of a junior judge of the Sindh High Court as judge of the Supreme Court.
A statement issued by LHCBA President Maqsood Ahmad Buttar expressed reservation over elevation of Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar of the SHC (being at serial No 5 on seniority list) to the Supreme Court. It said a question arises, by the proposed elevation of a junior judge, whether all the four senior judges of the SHC lack the laid down criteria for elevation to the Supreme Court.
