Bomb Threat Cleared at Lafayette Middle School
Students are back in class after a bomb threat written on a bathroom wall caused students to be evacuated from Lafayette Middle School.
Lafayette Police Cpl. Bridgette Dugas confirmed the news to KPEL and says officers are on the scene after clearing the area around 12:30 p.m.

United Way of Acadiana Offering Free Tax Prep
Tax season is upon us. And even though the deadline to file your taxes in Louisiana has been extended due to the winter storm we had a couple of weeks ago, they re not going away. At all. But help is on the way if you live in Acadiana, and haven t filed yet.
Once again United Way of Acadiana will offer free tax preparation for citizens through the VITA program. VITA stands for Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program and it offers free tax preparation utilizing volunteers that are certified and trained by the IRS.

Winston Churchill Painting Sold by Angelina Jolie has LA Ties
A painting with a complicated history, Louisiana ties, and a fascinating past is now one of the most expensive paintings ever sold at auction. Oh, and did we mention that it was painted by former British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill, and sold yesterday by actress Angelina Joile?
The auction was held at Christie s in London, and the painting, called Tower of Koutoubia Mosque, was one of the few painted by Churchill during the years 1939-1945. According to CNN, via WBRZ in Baton Rouge, the painting sold yesterday for a record-breaking $11.5 million after fees.
