The Prowers County Public Health and Environment Department says that while our Positivity Rate is improving, masks are still required until any new notification has been received. There have been 1,172 Covid cases reported as of March 31
st with 76 hospitalizations and 22 deaths in people who tested positive for COVID-19.
The new Positivity Test rate is down to 0.36%, a decrease from last week’s rating of 1.75%. The goal remains at less than 5%. Only one case of Covid has been reported in the past week with five reported over the past 14 days.
As of Wednesday, March 31, 2021, we have not yet heard back from the state regarding the mask exemption. The current order still requires masks indoors for those 11 years and older. The decrease in Covid cases coming in to Prowers Medical Center is corresponding to the latest decrease in the Positivity Test Rate for Prowers County, according to PMC Chief Executive Officer, Karen Bryant. The County is now designated at a Blue Level for cases and the Positivity Rate is currently under 1%, much lower than the standard 5% rating.
Bryant told the Prowers Medical Board of Directors there have been only two Covid cases in the hospital’s emergency room in February and staff has removed the barriers required to maintain a Covid unit on the Medical Surge Board. “The new positivity rate allows us to make adjustments back to our previous normal operating conditions,” she said, adding that new visitation guidelines are being relaxed and are available for the public on the hospital’s website. The number of COVID-19 cases in Prowers County continues to decline according to the February 22
nd report issued by the Prowers County Department of Public Health and Environment. There was only one new case registered between February 16
th and 4pm on the 22
nd. There have been six cases over the past 14 days. The seven-day Test Positivity Rate is now at 0.59%, down from 2.36% the previous week. The continued measurement goal is 5% or under.
School districts in Prowers County are being attended in person and Season B sports competitions are underway. Season C should be approved soon, CDPHE and CHASAA are working on this.
