The Prowers County Public Health and Environment Department’s February 10, 2021 report notes 1,153 cumulative COVID-19 cases in the county with 61 hospitalizations and 22 deaths in people who tested positive for COVID-19.
The county’s Positivity Rate for the past two weeks averages at 5.53% which is a fractional increase from last week’s rate of 5.31%. The goal is 5% or less. Recently, Prowers County moved from a Blue to a Yellow Level rating which allowed for additional persons for some indoor activities. The county’s seven-day Positivity Rate is 7% with 21 new cases between February 1
st and the 9
th and 41 total cases over the past 14 days.
Based on recent testing, the Positivity Rate is continuing to decline in Prowers County. The current rate is 6.85% down from 7.97% last week and 8.37% the week before. The goal is 5% or less. As of January 27
th, there have been 1,112 reported cases and 56 hospitalizations with 22 deaths. For January 20
th, there were 1,081 cases and 55 hospitalizations with 22 deaths in people who tested positive for COVID-19.
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment COVID-19 website lists these figures for southeastern counties. Baca at 264 with three deaths; Bent at 1,285 with 20 deaths, Cheyenne at 117 with five deaths; Crowley at 1,766 with 14 deaths; Kiowa with 87 and three deaths; Las Animas County with 905 cases and 11 deaths and Otero County with 1,782 cases and 58 deaths.
Prowers County remains at Level Orange-High Risk as of Wednesday, January 20, 2021, one step above the Stay at Home category rated by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. The Positivity Rate for the county has declined from the past week, now at 7.97% compared to 8.37% on January 12
th. The goal is to bring the county to 5% or less. There have been 27 new COVID-19 cases over the past week, from January 13
th to the 19
th. No current outbreaks have been noted.

There have been 986 COVID-19 cases for Prowers County to date with 47 cumulative hospitalizations and 20 deaths for those people who tested positive for COVID-19.
The demographic breakdown shows the highest incidents of the pandemic in the 30-39 age group at 150 cases. The next highest, from ages 60-69 is 140 cases. There are approximately 50 cases for children under the age of ten and just over 60 cases for the eighty-plus age group.
