Tens of Thousands of Dollars Worth of Damage Done to CenturyLink Lines and Equipment

BRIDGER VALLEY Hundreds of residents in the Bridger Valley area went without phone, internet or 911 service for up to two days after suspects intentionally damaged CenturyLink fiber-optic lines and materials Friday. According to a social media post from Uinta County Law Enforcement Services, during the evening hours of Friday, May 7, CenturyLink experienced an outage that disrupted phone and internet services to customers. Some of those customers experienced issues until May 9. “This disruption also caused a 911 trunk outage, which caused the inability to reach 911 if your service provider utilized that trunk system,” the post states. Uinta County Sheriff s Office Warns Residents of Warrant Scam

UINTA COUNTY  The Uinta County Sheriff’s Office has been notified that residents are receiving calls notifying them that they have warrants for their arrest. The caller then tries to obtain a payment. According to a recent Facebook post from Uinta County Law Enforcement Services, “the person is identifying themselves as a local officer, using the names of some of our real officers, attempting to get payment for the warrant over the phone.” “We would like to remind everyone we do not notify of warrants over the phone and never request, demand or receive payment for the warrant over the phone,” the post states.
