Exactly two months ago, I wrote an article on the theme for this year’s World Press Freedom Day. “Information is a public good”.
I had stated then that this year’s WPF Day marked the 30th anniversary of the signing of the historic Windhoek Declaration for the development of a “free, independent and pluralistic press”.
Article V of the Declaration says, “the worldwide trend towards democracy and freedom of information and expression is a fundamental contribution to the fulfilment of human aspirations”.
