Lucid Group Support Autism Awareness Day Annually, 2 April is Autism Awareness Day. Being autistic does not mean you have an illness or disease; it means your brain works in a different way from other people. Autism manifests itself as a spectrum, which means that everybody with autism is different. Some will need little or no support, while others may need full-time care. Some autistic people have average or way-above-average intelligence while others may have a learning disability. Autism is not a medical condition synonymous with treatments or a ‘cure’ – indeed, many people do not want a cure and embrace their differences; others learn to manage their challenges or use techniques to cope with scenarios they find difficult.
