An effort to address a lack of diversity and address concerns over racist incidents led to the school board’s abrupt proposal this week to eliminate the selective admissions process in favor of a random lottery like the district’s other high schools.Marlena Sloss/Special to The Chronicle I want to thank the San Francisco school board for acknowledging its mistake in regards to renaming all schools within its system. I not only disagreed with the decision but also with the manner in which it was taken. It appears to have violated many regulations about notice and public meetings. It’s not comfortable for most people and institutions to admit when they were wrong.
