ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday said several initiatives had been taken for wealth creation so that Pakistan could get rid of heavy foreign debts his government had inherited from previous ones. He was hopeful that the measures being introduced would bring about prosperity in the country.
“We want to create more and more wealth in the country to retire heavy foreign loans, some of which are causing even more debts,” the prime minister said while laying the foundation stone of 4,000 low-cost apartments being built under the government’s ambitious Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP) at Farash Town near Islamabad.

Prime Minister Imran Khan presented on Thursday a five-pronged road-map before the Developing-8 (D-8) countries, urging mobilisation of finances, intra-trade, youth engagement, technological development and enhanced cooperation in health, sports sectors and during natural disasters.
Imran also urged the D8 countries to develop a strategy to deal with the economic and health crises brought upon by the Covid-19 pandemic, stressing that coronavirus vaccine should be treated as a global public good and its production should be enhanced to save lives.

5th Virtual Meeting on Economic Diplomacy held focusing on Europe

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: As part of the government’s economic outreach initiative, the fifth Virtual Meeting on Economic Diplomacy was held on Wednesday focusing on Europe under the chairmanship of the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
