With the procedural paperwork now in place for the government to force an end to the three-day-old strike at the Port of Montreal, the stage is set for a lightning-round after-hours review of a bill that would order hundreds of dock workers back on the job, pending binding arbitration to resolve the long-running contract dispute.
Before that can get underway, however, the House has to sign off on a government-initiated motion that would allow the legislation to clear the Commons in a single sitting day.

It’s Game On for a new arena and community centre in Prescott.
There were smiles and grins all around on Wednesday as the federal and provincial governments announced a combined $9.7 million toward the cost of the project to replace the old Leo Boivin Community Centre that was mothballed in 2018.

A gleeful Mayor Brett Todd said the governments’ commitments and the money raised by a local fundraising committee should allow the town to get the tender out the door and shovels in the ground by July, with a completion date in late 2022 or the spring of 2023.
