Now, alliance trouble for BJP in Tripura
In alliance with the tribal-based party IPFT, the BJP won the Assembly polls just three years ago (2018)

Agartala: After neighbouring Assam, the relation between the ruling BJP and its junior ally Indigenous People s Front of Tripura (IPFT) turned bitter ahead of the April 4 elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), which is considered as the mini-state Assembly in terms of political significance.
Both the BJP and the IPFT are yet to finalise their seat-sharing in the 28-member TTAADC and even the leaders of the two parties are acusing each other on the issue.

Agartala, Feb 20 : Antagonising the ruling BJP, its junior ally IPFT on Friday night forged an alliance with another smaller tribal based parties to fight the upcoming polls to the tribal autonomous body.
Indigenous People s Front of Tripura (IPFT) President Narendra Chandra Debbarma and General Secretary Mevar Kumar Jamatia, both are ministers of the BJP led council of ministry headed by Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, however, said that they are still in coalition with the saffron party.

‘Recognise idea of Greater Tipraland’
Tripura royal scion Pradyot Kishore Debbarman on Wednesday dismissed reports that his party, the Tripura Indigenous People’s Regional Alliance (TIPRA), had forged an alliance with the Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT) for the upcoming elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous district Council (TTAADC).
INPT president Bijoy Hrangkhawl recently claimed that they had reached to an electoral understanding with the TIPRA.
“I have told INPT leaders that they should first recognise my ideology of Greater Tipraland and then we can talk on alliance issues,” Mr. Debbarman told reporters, adding that an electoral alliance should not be just limited to the TTAADC elections but should be relevant for the Assembly election in the State in 2023.
