Democrats drive to impeach Trump part of attack on constitutional rights – The Militant

By Terry Evans March 1, 2021 U.S. rulers have long history of attacks on workers rights and free speech. Above, FBI raided Socialist Workers Party hall in Minneapolis in June 1941, seizing boxes of books, pamphlets and newspapers. Left and top, Militant and Industrial Organizer, newspaper of Teamsters Local 544-CIO, fight Roosevelt administration’s anti-labor frame-up of SWP, union. Even before the Senate voted Feb. 13 to reject the impeachment of former President Donald Trump, Democrats and other liberal groups were pursuing additional ways to break him. They want to bankrupt and block him from ever running for office again.  Their target, in fact, isn’t Trump it’s the tens of millions of working people they slander as “deplorable white supremacists” because they voted for him. The Democrats are determined to prevent these workers from affecting the outcome of future elections.

Bill Aims To Prevent Domestic Terrorism

Congressman Fred Upton has signed on as a supporter of the newly re-introduced Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act. He told WSJM News the act passed the House last year but got caught up in the Senate. It’s designed to bolster the government’s ability to prevent acts of domestic terrorism by authorizing offices dedicated to fighting the threat, requiring them to assess threats, and providing training and resources to police agencies. “It really goes back to what we saw with Oklahoma City with the bombing of the federal building there a good couple of decades ago  now,” Upton said. “It really codifies into law the importance of having federal agencies work together to identify those that may be on terrorism watch lists.”

The events of January 6, or how the “attack on the Capitol” was covered in the media, stirred up a frenzy among Democrats and their supporters to deploy some retaliation against not only the so-called domestic terrorists of that fateful day but also many of their fellow Trump supporters. President Joe Biden ordered investigations from three intelligence agencies into “domestic violent extremism,” while in Congress, there are moves to establish new offices in the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and Department of Justice to pursue ill-defined public enemies.

Media hysterics about “insurrectionists” and a vague Department of Homeland security bulletin about terrorism created an artificial crisis. Figures in the new Administration are eager to use state power against “racists,” even while they tolerate real crime. Add to this the concepts of “restorative justice” and “transitive justice” and we get the perfect recipe for anarcho-tyranny. The “Ricky Vaughn” case is a warning. Douglass Mackey (his real name), now 31, was one of the 2016 campaign’s most effective pro-Trump Twitter accounts. On January 27, the Justice Department announced it arrested him for “conspiring with others in advance of the 2016 Presidential Election to use various social media platforms to disseminate misinformation designed to deprive ind
