Registration to receive coronavirus vaccination in Egypt will begin next week for the elderly and chronic disease sufferers, Health Minister Hala Zayed said on Tuesday.
Addressing a news conference, she said the vaccine will be administered from 40 locations across the country’s 27 provinces. The number of centres will gradually increase, she added.
Egypt began its vaccination program on January 24, but only for frontline medical workers dealing with Covid-19 patients.
On Tuesday, Ms Zayed said registration to receive the vaccine will be made on a ministry website that would also allow users to upload a maximum of three documents relevant to their health condition. She said those unable to access the website could register in person at the nearest hospital.

At least four African countries have given its citizens Chinese vaccines or secured vaccines from Chinese developers as of Tuesday, with talks on cooperation underway in more countries. Despite the challenges involved, observers noted that China is striving to help the continent fill the immunity gap rather than hoard doses.

Countries across the globe accelerate mass inoculation programs to ease public concerns
Mass inoculation programs using Chinese vaccines against COVID-19 are rolling out across continents while more countries plan options, reaffirming China s global public good promise.
Tuesday saw Serbia using Chinese vaccines and Iraq granting approval, while several other countries in Europe, Asia and Africa are working on agreements. More than a dozen countries have already started rolling out large-scale vaccination programs with vaccines of Chinese origin, or have secured deals, with senior officials gracing the stage to accelerate emergency mass inoculation programs in order to ease public concerns.
