CAIRO, April 20 (Xinhua) Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi sent on Tuesday a message to his South African counterpart Cyril Ramaphosa over the latest developments on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement. Egypt is keen to launch a serious negotiation to reach a legally binding agreement that meets the interest of the three countries, said the message.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry delivered the message in a meeting with the South African president, during which Shoukry highlighted the latest developments of GERD issues, including the results of the latest round of failed talks among Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia in Kinshasa.

CAIRO At a meeting held in Khartoum April 12, and chaired by Sudan s Minister of Transport Mirghani Mousa, Egypt’s Minister of Transport Kamel al-Wazir said that works to build a new port in Wadi Halfa in North Sudan will be launched as soon as possible. Wazir noted that his ministry is ready to meet all of the Sudanese demands with the very purpose of developing the transport sector between the two countries.
CAIRO: Ethiopia had rejected 15 different ideas put forward by Egypt to help resolve a bitter row over the development of a highly controversial Nile dam project, a senior minister has revealed.
Egyptian Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Mohammed Abdel-Ati said Addis Ababa had poured cold water on all of Cairo’s suggestions to reach agreement about water rights and other issues related to the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) scheme.
His claims came as Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry embarked on a tour of African countries to highlight Egypt’s position regarding the latest developments in the GERD negotiations.
