Ethiopia has accused Egypt and Sudan of obstructing the latest round of three-way talks on a contested Nile dam that it has been building over the River, as tensions continue to simmer between the African neighbors over the project.
The meeting failed due to Egypt and Sudan s rigid stance to make the negotiation and the outcome a tool to affirm their self-claimed water share and foreclose Ethiopia s share, Ethiopia s Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

Egypt and Jordan welcomed a US decision to restart economic, development and humanitarian assistance for Palestinians which includes funding for the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA),

CAIRO - The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday that the latest negotiations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo) over the disputed Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) made no progress and failed to reach an agreement. The latest African Union (AU)-sponsored talks that sought to re-launch the deadlocked negotiations for reaching a deal over the filling and operation of the dam came with no progress due to persisting differences, Ahmed Hafez, spokesperson of the foreign ministry, said in a statement.
The United Nations on Tuesday called for compromise and cooperation in order to reach an agreement over the disputed Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) on the Nile.
I think we can t underscore enough the importance of compromise and cooperation, said Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, when asked about Guterres reaction to the failed talks between Ethiopia, Egypt and Sudan under the auspices of the African Union (AU).
We ve taken note of the conclusion of the discussions in Kinshasa (of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, or DRC). We continue to urge the parties to continue with the efforts to take concrete steps towards reaching an agreement on the issue.
