Doctors move on as the Heights Hospital in Houston, Texas remains shuttered indefinitely
The Heights Hospital in Houston, Texas, remains closed and is expected to stay that way after a dispute between the owner of the hospital, AMD Global LLC, and its creditor, Arbitra Capital Partners LLC, over the non-payment of loans of more than $3 million including interest and maintenance, repair and insurance costs.
Patients and staff only found out about the situation on Monday, January 18, when they found they were locked out of the building, with all the locks having been changed over the weekend. The hospital filed for bankruptcy on the same day. Patient records remain locked in the building, while staff were only allowed into the building briefly to secure their personal belongings.

A new dental clinic is opening at Primary Health Care in Ames that will specialize in treating Story County residents who are uninsured or covered by Medicaid.
One full-time dentist along with hygienists and dental assistants will provide care in the new clinic s six operatories, which will be connected to the existing medical clinic at 3510 Lincoln Way. With construction well underway, Primary Health Care CEO Kelly Huntsman said, doors will open March 17.
Primary Health Care will offer a variety of dental services including diagnostic, preventive, restorative, emergency, periodontal, and endodontic care, as well as oral surgery. We certainly serve everyone, but (serving low-income patients) is our niche. That s who we exist to serve, Huntsman said.

infrastructure in 14 rural, southern New Mexico counties, especially regarding opioid use
disorder.
“I’ll be aiding all the rural counties in New Mexico south of Interstate-40,” said Long, a resident of Mesilla, NM.
Long’s efforts focus on Catron, Chaves, Cibola, De Baca, Eddy, Grant, Hidalgo, Lea, Lincoln, Luna, Otero, Roosevelt, Sierra, and Socorro counties.
The three-year project is funded by a $1 million grant from the U.S. Health Resources and Service Administration (HRSA) as part of the Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP).
The funding implements plans created by the communities to strengthen and expand services for substance use disorder (SUD), including opioid use disorder (OUD) prevention, treatment, and recovery efforts by the rural counties.

Vaccine supply is limited. It will take time to vaccinate people included in Phase 1b. Local health districts across Virginia are working as quickly as possible to vaccinate people eligible for Phases 1a and 1b.

The closure is the result of a financial dispute over a loan payment between the owner of the hospital, AMD Global and Arbitra Capital Partners LLC, as well as the non-payment of maintenance, repair, and property insurance.
Dr. John Thomas, an internal medicine specialist who is affiliated with the Heights Hospital, told the WSWS that all the locks were changed over the weekend when the medical facility is typically closed, with staff only finding out on Monday. Dr. Thomas stated that Dr. Felicity Mack was treating “quite a few” COVID-19 patients at the hospital before it was shut down, and that around 100 coronavirus tests were being performed at the hospital per day.
