THE WORLD WITH DAVID PRATT: On the brink - Why war drums are beginning to pound in Somalia

For decades it has reeled under famine, civil war and an Islamist inspired insurgency, but just as it was getting on its feet Somalia once again faces possible meltdown. Foreign Editor David Pratt who has visited the country over many years examines why Mogadishu is no stranger to the sounds of mortar and machine-gun fire. And once again, last Friday, Somalia’s capital city found itself becoming a frontline. For two weeks now the country has been in a constitutional crisis after Somalia’s president Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed – universally known by his nickname “Farmajo” – refused to leave office after his term expired and an agreed-upon election date of February 8 elapsed.

Dr. Caesar Churchwell, a leader who made a difference February 15, 2021 by Lin Robertson for the San Francisco African American Chamber of Commerce  Dr. Caesar Churchwell passed away Sunday morning, Feb. 7, 2021, at 2:00 a.m. He was with his family at home when he said goodbye. Even in his last hours, he was not thinking of himself but rather trying to comfort those around him, reassuring them that everything would be all right.  As his family remembers their father, husband and brother, we too mourn the loss of this legend who always sought to make a difference throughout his life. He served in the elite Special Forces of the U.S. Army Rangers.

The effort to insinuate that the Arkansas lawmaker has been stealing valor for nearly a decade rests on the premise that, starting in 2012, during his first congressional campaign, Cotton spoke about his time as a U.S. Army Ranger in Iraq and Afghanistan, and highlighted his service in television ads throughout his home state. Injured SOCOM Doctor Awarded Medal for Saving Wounded Ranger

Wyatt’s actions earned him the Soldier’s Medal, the highest award for non-combat related bravery. Almost two years ago, a Special Forces doctor saved the life of a retired Ranger. Now he has been recognized with the highest non-combat award for bravery. On April 7, 2019,  Lieutenant Colonel Larry Wyatt, a clinic director at the US Special Operations Command, and retired Colonel Thomas Wells, a former Ranger and trauma surgeon, were cycling on a bike trail near Tampa, Florida. As they neared a bridge, the pair saw two motorcycles approaching them in speed. Because of the trail’s tight space, Wyatt and Wells had little room to maneuver. The motorcyclists didn’t slow down and struck them at an estimated 50 miles per hour. Both were knocked out, and Wyatt was dragged 30 feet before coming to a stop.
