NEW LONDON, Conn. President Joe Biden is scheduled to visit Connecticut later this month, the White House announced Monday.

The U.S. Coast Guard Academy made the official announcement today (May 3) stating that President Joe Biden is scheduled to deliver the keynote address during the graduation ceremonies.
The United States Coast Guard Academy is based out of New London, Connecticut and the Commencement Ceremony will be taking place on the Cadet Memorial Field. This is President Biden s second time addressing a graduating class at the Academy, according to the post. The first time was when he was Vice-President in 2013.
This will all be happening on Wednesday, May 19 starting at 11 AM. Governor Ned Lamont commented that he was Looking forward to welcoming President Joe Biden to Connecticut!

President Joe Biden will deliver the commencement address at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London on May 19, the Coast Guard announced Monday.

“We are honored to host the Commander-in-Chief as we celebrate the accomplishments of the Class of 2021, the future leaders of the U.S. Coast Guard,” said Academy Superintendent Rear Adm. Bill Kelly in a statement. “It will be a memorable event for our community, as well as a great opportunity to showcase the Academy and the city of New London on a national stage.”

It was great to learn that President Joe Biden will address the U.S. Coast Guard Academy s graduating class on May 19. No doubt, the president will reference the Coast Guard’s many and varied responsibilities, including rescue missions, rooting out drug and human trafficking, navigating a melting Arctic, and keeping the nation’s ports safe.
But it is an agency with a far less popular, but still important task, that has the new president’s attention lately the Internal Revenue Service.
The IRS’s job is to find tax cheats and collect from them. But its ability to do so has been diminished. After Republicans took control of Congress in 2010, they began to fiscally starve the agency. According to a Congressional Budget Office review, the IRS’s budget declined by 20% and its staff by 22% from 2010 to 2018. Much of its technological equipment is outdated.
