Feb 3 (Reuters) - A tsunami was not expected after a 6.6 magnitude earthquake struck in sea southeast of Easter Island, Chile, the U.S. Tsunami Warning Center said.
The quake struck at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.21 miles)with its epicenter about 1,483 km southeast of Hanga Roa, Easter Island, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. (Reporting by Shubham Kalia in Bengaluru; Editing by Himani Sarkar)

A major earthquake has shaken the Philippines and some parts of northern Indonesia.
A 7.0-magnitude quake struck at 9:23 p.m. local time (4:23 a.m. Vancouver time) on January 21, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
As the depth of the seismic activity was 95 kilometres (59 miles), the U.S. Tsunami Warning Centre stated that it was not expected to generate a tsunami and, consequently, a tsunami alert was not issued.
The epicentre was positioned 211 kilometres (131 miles) southeast of Pondaguitan, Philippines; 231 kilometres (143 miles) east of Caburan, Philippines; and 311 kilometres (193 miles) southeast of Davao, Philippines.

A shallow earthquake has struck the largest island in the Hawaiian archipelago.
It occurred at 10:36 p.m. on December 20, Honolulu time (12:36 a.m. on December 21 B.C. time) on the island of Hawai’i.
The U.S. Geological Survey measured it as 4.3-magnitude quake.
At a depth of only five kilometres (three miles), the epicentre was located 14 kilometres (nine miles) southeast of Fern Forest, Hawaii; 43 kilometres (27 miles) south of Hilo, Hawaii; and 360 kilometres (223 miles) southeast of Honolulu, Hawaii.
