ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC/AP) Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed the Opioid Lockbox Bill into law Wednesday.
That means any money the state gets from the current trial against drug manufacturers and distributors will go toward opioid education and treatment programs instead of the general fund.
With this bill being signed into law, funds recovered from opioid settlements and litigation will go where they’re needed: to fund prevention, education, and treatment programs.
This is a massive step in our efforts to end the opioid epidemic and provide justice to its victims. https://t.co/EPrpoGFhAT
