A day after Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe lamented “a dilemma” around low uptake of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, the drive-thru vaccination centre in the province’s capital is switching brands.
The province announced Thursday in a media release that drive-thru vaccinations in Regina will be done using Pfizer vaccines starting Friday. The site will be open to those age 53 and 54 only, on a first come, first served basis.

Last month, the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) changed its recommendation on the AstraZeneca vaccine amid reports of rare, but sometimes fatal, blood clots first detected in Europe. It advised provincial governments to limit use of the vaccine to people aged 55 and older.
