U S FDA Approves Australian-Made Rapid CCP Virus Antigen Test

U.S. FDA Approves Australian-Made Rapid CCP Virus Antigen Test An Australian-made, at-home rapid COVID-19 testing kit was given emergency approval by the US Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday. Developed in East Brisbane by biotech company Ellume, the home antigen test will be available without prescription over-the-counter. Ellume said in a media release on Tuesday that the test will be available to all whether symptomatic or asymptomatic and that it sends results of the test to your smartphone within 20 minutes. The home test kit uses a “mid-turbinate” nasal swab to detect specific proteins of the virus known as antigens. It also comes with a less intrusive adaptor for children two-years-old and above.

Book reviews: Mr Blok and The Speed of Dark | Review

It was recently discovered that Gregor Piatigorsky was born in 1904, one year later than his previously official birthdate. I learnt this from The Speed of Dark, a memoir by his son Joram Piatigorsky, one of two recently published books connected with the most charismatic of the 20th century’s great cellists. It completes the current Piatigorsky prose canon (some short stories, essays and poems still remain unpublished) and is, for sure, an odd book that some will like and others not. This would not have bothered its author, given his declaration in the foreword that ‘readers will find Mr Blok a likeable fellow, who will not mind in the slightest being put aside, should he not succeed in holding your attention’. The titular Mr Blok is a controversial New York artist who vacillates between self-c

Coronavirus live updates: US embraces Ellume s antigen test

NSW Health says two new cases of COVID-19 have emerged in Sydney s northern beaches. Authorities said the source of these new infections was under investigation but they had not identified any links to other known cases so far. The cases are a woman in her 60s and a man in his 70s who are close contacts of each other. Officials are undertaking contact tracing and expect genome sequencing results in the next 24 to 48 hours. The two people visited a number of venues in Palm Beach and Avalon while they were infectious and anyone who attended the venues is considered a close contact - they must get a COVID-19 test and isolate for 14 days, even if the test comes back negative.
