Fauci: Fully Vaccinated People ‘Dont Have to Wear Mask Outside’
Dr. Anthony Fauci, the head of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), said that people who are vaccinated against COVID-19 don’t have to wear a mask outdoors.
“We’ve got to make that transition,” Fauci told CBS News on Thursday. “If you are vaccinated, you don’t have to wear a mask outside.” He did not elaborate on whether individuals should keep wearing masks indoors in public spaces.
It came after the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in April said that vaccinated individuals don’t have to wear a mask at small outdoor gatherings.
Last week, Athens-Clarke County saw a decrease of new confirmed COVID-19 cases compared to the week before.Â
From May 6-12, ACC reported 48 new confirmed cases, compared to 63 from April 29- May 5, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health. The countyâs seven-day average positivity rate stayed about the same at 3.5% on May 12 compared to 3.4% on May 5. The World Health Organization and Johns Hopkins University recommend that communities try to maintain a positivity rate of 5% or lower.Â
From April 29-May 12, ACC reported zero confirmed COVID-19 deaths. So far, the county has had a total of 144 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

UK cases of the Covid-19 variant first detected in India have risen from 520 to 1,313 cases this week, according to Public Health England (PHE).
Health authorities say they plan to implement “additional control measures,” including rapid testing and tracing, in areas where there is increased spread.
The Indian variant was named a variant of concern by the UK last week after a rise in cases. The variant has spread most across the North West and in London, where measures such as mobile testing, door-to-door testing and vaccine buses, PHE said in a statement on Thursday.

Researchers from MIT monitored social media and infiltrated Facebook groups to assess how people think about and process information related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Recently they published their findings. This research involved assessing visualizations or graphs and other images people used to communicate information. It also involved network analysis, which is a way to analyze groups of people who hold a particular point of view and share or amplify each other’s messages. The team at MIT also qualitatively evaluated posts on Facebook for content and thought processes.
This type of analysis is relatively new, and it seems the MIT researchers followed established guidelines for performing it. One area was of particular interest to me because I am sure researchers probably captured my tweets. The researchers named this the anti-mask network. The network analysis found the anchors in this group were Alex Berenson, a former

WASHINGTON: India made the incorrect assumption that it was finished with the Covid-19 pandemic and opened up prematurely that has left the country in such dire straits , America s top infectious disease expert Dr Anthony Fauci has told senators.
India has been severely affected by the unprecedented second wave of the coronavirus and hospitals in several states are reeling under the shortage of health workers, vaccines, oxygen, drugs and beds. The reason that India is in such dire straits now is that they had an original surge and made the incorrect assumption that they were finished with it, and what happened, they opened up prematurely and wind up having a surge right now that we re all very well aware of is extremely devastating,” Fauci told the US Senate Health, Education, Labour and Pensions Committee during a hearing on Tuesday on the Covid-19 Response.
