Defrocked predator priest gets probation for molesting 2 boys at Harrisburg church

In a proceeding that took only a few minutes, a defrocked Catholic priest was sentenced to 5 years of probation Tuesday morning on his guilty pleas to charges that he molested two Dauphin County boys roughly two decades ago.
John Allen, 77, of York County, must also was deemed a sexually violent predator, the most dangerous type of sex offender. He will have to register with state police for life, undergo perpetual sex offender counseling and his neighbors will be told of his crimes.
County Judge Deborah E. Curcillo imposed the sentence under a plea agreement forged between the district attorney’s office and defense attorney Brian Perry. Allen pleaded guilty to multiple counts of indecent assault and corruption of minors filed against him by county detectives nearly two years ago.

A 69-year-old Cumberland County woman who is accused of murdering her husband is facing new federal charges that she defrauded the Social Security system for six years after his death.
Virginia Hayden of Carlisle has been indicted by a grand jury in U.S. Middle District Court in Harrisburg this week on fraud and conversion of government chargers. Investigators claim she concealed her husband’s 2011 demise and kept collecting $113,471 worth of his Social Security benefits until April 2017.
The grand jury concluded that alleged fraud ended two years before the former Dover woman was arrested by Northern York Regional Police and charged with Thomas Hayden Sr.’s homicide.

A former trainer convicted of drugging horses at Penn National Race Course has failed to convince a federal appeals court that she shouldn’t have been found guilty and sent to prison.
Instead, the panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit rejected Murray Rojas’ arguments over two words in her case and her claim that the drugs she had veterinarians give her horses were therapeutic rather than performance enhancing.

Libby Williams was asleep when she heard the front door of her Newberry house kicked in and saw the flash and heard the bang of grenades thrown in as smoke filled the interior, a federal lawsuit states.
Next, more than 20 officers in military garb, with weapons drawn, entered screaming at Williams, her friend, Roscellus Carter, and Williams’ 10-year-old son inside the house at 2801 Linn St., according to the suit in U.S. Middle District Court.
Williams on behalf of herself and her 10-year-old son along with Carter accused Lycoming County Det. Tyson Havens and 20 unnamed police officers in the civil action alleging their rights of illegal search and seizure were violated along with other constitutional infringements. They claim in the suit the police haven’t given them a reason for the raid.
