Detroit City Councilman Andre Spivey was released on a $10,000 bond Tuesday after being arraigned on a single felony charge of conspiracy to commit bribery. Federal court documents show Spivey appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Elizabeth Stafford at U.S. District Court in Detroit. According to the criminal case docket, Spivey entered a plea of not guilty.  Federal prosecutors alleged that Spivey and an unnamed staffer referred to in court documents as Public Official A  accepted more than $35,000 in bribery payments from 2016 to 2020. The U.S. Attorney s Office in Detroit, as well as Spivey s defense attorney, could not be reached immediately for comment Tuesday evening.
