WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Representative Val Demings, a Florida Democrat who gained national prominence as one of the House managers in President Donald Trump’s first impeachment trial, launched a campaign on Wednesday to run for Republican Marco Rubio’s U.S. Senate seat next year.
Demings, who previously served as Orlando’s first female police chief, has represented Florida’s 10th Congressional District, which includes parts of Orlando, in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2017.
President Joe Biden embarked on his first foreign trip on Wednesday, leaving behind an uncertain domestic agenda with many of his most ambitious pledges on the U.S. economy, civil rights and climate change facing massive challenges.
Gold prices held steady on Monday, helped by a pullback in the dollar and lower bond yields after a weaker-than-expected U.S. monthly jobs report calmed investor fears over tightening of monetary policy.

June 7 (Reuters) - Gold prices dipped on Monday, as an uptick in the dollar dimmed the appeal of the safe-haven metal, although a pullback in U.S. Treasury yields and prospects of a prolonged accommodative interest rate environment limited losses.
Spot gold was down 0.4% at $1,883.10 per ounce, as of 0637 GMT, after rising more than 1% in the previous session, as last month’s U.S. non-farm payrolls fell short of expectations.
U.S. gold futures eased 0.3% to $1,886.
