BEVERLY â A Beverly man with mental and physical disabilities, found incompetent to stand trial on indecent assault and battery charges, is expected to be released on Tuesday to a Boston group home.
Jonathan Jutras, 21, has spent a year and a half at the Middleton Jail, where he contracted COVID-19 and a severe skin infection, and suffered exploitation and bullying, his family has said.Â
Jutras, born three months premature in 1999, suffers from chronic lung issues and a congenital hip condition for which he is need of further surgery. He is also diagnosed with autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and bipolar disorder.Â
Vehicle hits, kills North Andover pedestrian
A 65-year-old North Andover man was killed Sunday evening when he was struck by a vehicle on Chickering Road.
At just after 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, several people called 911 after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle near 531 Chickering Road, according to North Andover Police Lt. Eric Foulds.
“Responding officers, along with North Andover Fire Department personnel and Lawrence General Hospital paramedics, attempted to treat the pedestrian for his injuries, but he did not survive and was pronounced deceased,” Foulds wrote in a statement Monday morning. “The deceased is a 64 year old man from North Andover. His identity is not being released at this time.”

The victim has been identified as a 64-year-old man from North Andover. His name is not being released at this time.
Police say a 63-year-old woman driving a Nissan Rogue hit the man. She remained on scene, but her name is not being released at this time and police have not said if she will face any charges.
A portion of Route 125 will be closed following the fatal incident to allow officers to investigate.
State and local police, along with the Essex County District Attorney s Office, are investigating.

Associated Press ALBANY A white former police officer has been charged with falsely reporting a gunfight with a group of Black youths at his camp in the Adirondacks while he was off duty last summer, the Essex County District Attorney’s Office said Thursday. Sean McKown was arraigned last week on four misdemeanor charges, including falsely reporting an incident and illegally discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, District Attorney Kristy Sprague said in a news release. “The charges filed stem from allegedly false reports of an incident (which did not occur) that were allegedly made to 911 by Sean McKown,” Sprague said in a statement. “The discharging of the firearm charge was also allegedly shots fired within 500 feet of a dwelling by Sean McKown, with no specific dwelling or victim named.”
