Newark police investigating double homicide after body is found near Penn Station Updated Feb 17, 2021; One person was arrested after two people were shot to death Tuesday night in a double homicide in Newark, authorities said. Police were called about 9:30 p.m. to Edison Place and Bruen Street, about a block from Newark Penn Station, where they discovered one body. While at that location, they learned of another fatal shooting in the 100 block of Haynes Avenue, officials said. Police believe the killings are related. The names of the victims were not immediately released. Newark police did not release the name of the person arrested or the charge. Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said the shootings appeared to be an isolated incident and that “there is no threat to the community.”
