Death toll nears 11,000
At least 844,770 people in North Carolina have tested positive for the coronavirus and 10,934 have died since March, according to state health officials.
The N.C. Department of Health and Human Services on Monday reported 2,133 new COVID-19 cases, down from 2,541 reported the day before.
Thirty deaths were reported Sunday. Deaths don t all occur on the day the state reports them. The state health department revises its daily figures as information becomes available.

Case count tops 842,000
At least 842,637 people in North Carolina have tested positive for the coronavirus and 10,926 have died since March, according to state health officials.
The N.C. Department of Health and Human Services on Sunday reported 2,541 new COVID-19 cases, down from 3,446 reported the day before. Saturday s case count was inflated by 685 cases due to delayed reporting to the state of tests performed at UNC Health Southeastern Hospital since Dec. 30, according to state health officials.

Greater volume of imported papaya on the way
Supplies of imported papaya are likely to soon start increasing.
“The supplies of papaya have been steady. It was a little low at the start of the year,” says Edgar Millan of Caraveo Papayas in the Bronx, NY. “But as the weather gets better and the days get longer, we start having a little bit more product to harvest and that helps. This started just a few weeks ago.” He adds that when the temperature drops, papaya doesn’t ripen making it difficult to harvest. “But now everybody is getting more volume and shipping more.”
