Congress, BJP in Rajasthan demand river water share Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA The ruling Congress and the Opposition BJP in Rajasthan have joined hands to get surplus Yamuna river waters from Tajewala head in Haryana as the State’s share under the inter-State river water agreement of 1994. Rajasthan has not been getting 1,917 cusecs of water from the Tajewala barrage stipulated by the Central Water Commission (CWC) in 2003. The State government has sent a proposal to the CWC with a detailed project report for bringing water from Tajewala head through pipelines, along with a memorandum of understanding forwarded to the Haryana government for the project’s implementation.

BJP MLA Vasudev Devnani JAIPUR: Former minister and senior BJP MLA Vasudev Devnani was suspended from the House for a day for unruly behaviour on Monday. The decision of the House by voice vote led the entire opposition to walk out of the assembly to protest the suspension of four-time MLA from Ajmer. Devnani was unhappy over not being allowed to raise the issue of attack on protesting ABVP students on Saturday night. He stormed into the well of the House as soon as the speaker announced the decision on adjournment motions during Zero Hour. When Devnani refused to obey Speaker’s repeated orders to go back to his seat, Speaker CP Joshi directed parliamentary affairs minister Shanti Dhariwal to move a resolution suspending the member and calling the marshals to remove him from the well.

Rajasthan: Amid Reports of Factionalism, First Meeting of Core BJP Group on Sunday FOLLOW US ON: The first meeting of a newly formed 16-member core group of the BJP, which has been put in place amid reports of factionalism in the party, will be held in Jaipur on Sunday, a party leader said. The new group consists of BJP leader Satish Poonia, national vice president and former chief minister Vasundhara Raje, Rajya Sabha MP Om Mathur, Union ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Kailash Chaudhary, Leader of Opposition Gulabchand Kataria, Deputy Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathore, among others. The first meeting of the group will be held on Sunday during which organisational issues will be discussed, state general secretary Bhajanlal Sharma said. National general secretary and state in charge Arun Singh will also be present in the meeting.
