Women protest in Edo over alleged killings by herdsmen

Share For hours on Wednesday, hundreds of women in Uromi, Esan-North East Local Government Area of Edo State, disrupted vehicular and human movements as they protested against the incessant kidnappings and killings by herdsmen in the locality. While the protest lasted, travellers on the route were stranded for hours as the women blocked the road, lamenting that the suspected Fulani herdsmen, were in the habit of raping of their girls and women and destruction of their crops in the farms. The protesting women blocked the entire stretch of the road from the palace of Onojie of Uromi, HRH Anselm Aidenjie, up to the police station, insisting that they be addressed by the Onojie and the Divisional Police Officer.

Vehicle Crushes Six Children To Death In Uromi

UROMI – Six children were at the weekend crushed to death by a vehicle at Arue-Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State. Two of the children killed by the car, a Mercedes Benz salon car, were sadly of the same parents. The driver of car allegedly escaped immediately to police station to avoid been lynched by angry mob, where he was taken into custody. Angry youths of the community, after setting the car ablaze, block the expressway, making burn fire on the highway, and causing motorists to divert through the town It was gathered that the driver of the car, who was driving down from Irrua axis, lost control, skidded off the road and over the gutter to crush the children who were playing football.
