Area health departments updated coronavirus numbers Monday. The Laurel County Health Department reported 112 new cases from Saturday through Monday bringing the county’s total to 3,410. The Knox County Health Department reported 53 new cases bringing the total to 1,725. The health department also reported possible COVID-19 exposures. If you were at the IGA in Barbourville on Saturday, Dec. 19th between 4 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. or Pizza Hut in Barbourville on Wednesday, Dec. 16th between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. you may have been exposed to the virus. Health officials say to monitor for symptoms. The Whitley County Health Department reported 24 new cases from Saturday, 19 Sunday, and 23 Monday bringing the total to 2,079. Thursdayâs update from the Lake Cumberland District Health Department (LCDHD) reported four new COVID-related deaths from Pulaski as well as one death from McCreary County.
The Pulaski deaths included a 99-year-old female, a 90-year-old female, a 94-year-old female and a 91-year-old female. All four were residents at long-term care facilities.
Those deaths bring Pulaskiâs total up to 47.
The McCreary County death was of an 85-year-old male who was a long-term care resident.
Also reported were the deaths of an 85-year-old male from Taylor County and a 96-year-old female from Russell County, both of whom were long-term care residents.

On Monday, the department announced the death of an 85-year-old female who had been hospitalized. Tuesdayâs report added a 78-year-old male who had been hospitalized, an 83-year-old female who was a long-term care resident who had been hospitalized, and a 79-year-old female who had been hospitalized.
